BIG opportunity for Low Tech Industries

Andrew McAfee strikes again, this time on video. He talks about the difference technology is making within industry. His conclusions are very insightful. Specifically, and I quote..

"We see a technology story and business network transformation story. We see a really interesting combination of good business ideas and the technology that helps leverage those business ideas. When you combine that, you see the patterns that we see in the data."

You'll have to watch the video (only 15 mins long) to see his results however his findings further reinforce that E2.0 technologies provide a significant competitive advantage when used to leverage better business ideas. Providing your entire work force with a voice that can be heard by your company's leaders is the true differentiator.

Of course, you also need to encourage your leaders to listen!

What is also interesting is the findings from the low tech industries. The 'business as usual' results indicate a BIG opportunity for these players to gain a significant competitive advantage by connecting their work force with the management team. Successful companies prove time again that their work force contributes value far beyond turning wrenches when given the opportunity to contribute.

Only a fool would hire talent then fail to listen.

I also learned that

- Andrew is left handed
- no amount of IT will replace paper and markers.
