IJ News

It has been an exciting few months in the life of IJ Solutions.

Ian and I continue to work with Chris Burkey and the development team of OpenEdit to improve this powerful open source project. Ian has added many new features to the software such as the integration of struts and the improvement of the image archiving capabilities. Meanwhile I've been hard at work with Chris to add a layout picker which allows new site owners to choose a layout from a selection of templates.

In addition to improving the software, we continue to create and deploy new OpenEdit web applications for our clients. The most recent site to be released was the Ontario Winter Games which can be found at www.owg2008.ca. This powerful site is loaded with neat features such as a photo gallery, an online calendar, integrated google maps which provide directions to each regional partner, an online store, a news nodule for the planning committee to blog about upcoming events, and much more. We are proud to support this important event and are pleased with the development of this fun web site.

We have also been busy practicing our public speaking. On the morning of 28 March I spent two hours doing a workshop for young entrepreneurs at the Nottawasaga Futures. The following week, Ian and I were the guest speakers for the Barrie Chamber Business Breakfast Networking event where we presented to business owners on the topic of creating and managing a successful online presence. The feedback was very positive and I expect we will be doing similar events in the future.

Finally, we've also given our site a face lift. The design work was done by one of our design partners, Chris Bedwell. It is always challenging to find time to work on your own web presence but the evenings and weekends spent on our new look were well worth the effort. If you have any feedback, sign in to our forum and leave us a message.

I look forward to reading your comments. Regards,
