Location, Location, Location

For a long time, the saying in business has been "Location, Location, Location".    The question is, how does that relate to the Internet and a networked world?  What's important?

The idea traditionally has been that location online breaks down barriers of state,  town, city etc - letting people interact with each other.  What is important becomes your virtual location, location, location - stuff like the right URL, the right links in the right places.

Recently, we've been developing technologies that give a slightly different answer to the question of how Internet location and the real world location can co-exist - with the idea being that the online world can support and enhance our enjoyment of the offline world.  This isn't a new idea and it certainly isn't ours alone - but it is very interesting, especially when you think of it in terms of business, advertising and ROI.

The phenomenon that is Google Maps (maps.google.com) has made some really interesting things possible.  If you look at some of the work done on the Ontario Winter Games site (www.owg2008.ca) you'll get a hint as to what we're doing.  Also, take a look at this work in progress - (www.skiworldmap.com) - pretty neat stuff.

Anyway, that's it from the soap box for now.  If you're interested in these technologies, give us a holler or leave a comment.
